A new method to synthesize effective floating photocatalyst Fe-TiO2/beads

 Fe-doping broadens the absorption profile, improves photo utilization of TiO2. The photocatalytic activity of the Fe-doped TiO2 can be increased to 98% compared with that of the undoped one. The research group thinks that TiO2 compound photocatalysts will become one of the most effective photocatalysts in dealing with industrial wastewater with the best prospect of utilization.

Using a semiconductor as the photocatalyst to degrade various organic and inorganic pollutants in wastewater has become a kind of water treatment technology with the best prospect of utilization. TiO2 has proven to be one of the most suitable materials for widespread environmental applications. However, photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2 is not high and it is difficult to reuse the TiO2 semiconductor powder.

Floating photocatalysts Fe-TiO2/beads have been successfully synthesized by the method of dip-coating from the colloid solution of tetrabutylorthotitanate.
