Inhibition of Biosynthesized Silver Nanoparticles on Staphylococcus Aureus Biofilm

Pratik R. Chaudhar et al use B. cereus supernatant to synthesize silver nanoparticles. They find glucose can quicken the rate of synthesis reaction.

These silver nanoparticles showed enhanced quorum quenching activity against S. aureus biofilm and prevention of biofilm formation. The synergistic effect of silver nanoparticles along with antibiotics in biofilm quenching was found to be effective.

In the near future, silver nanoparticles may play a major role in the treatment of infections caused by highly antibiotic resistant biofilm.
