Li Chen et al have successfully synthesized the composite of C60 and PLLA. The different amount of C60 influenced the length of needle. The length of 0.5 wt%, 1.0 wt% and 2.0 wt% C60in the composite is about 60-110 μm, 300-500 μm and 200-300 μm, respectively. The carbon element is 88.1 wt% with from the 1.0 wt% C60 by the EDS analysis. For the PLLA containing 1.0 wt% C60 by DSC analysis, the cold crystallization process starts at 127.4 ℃, indicating the nucleation action of C60. The Xc of PLLA in composites increases to 7.06 %, nine folds higher than that of neat PLLA. The possible mechanism of C60 in PLLA matrix would be due to the Van der Waals force during the synthesis process.
