Electrochemical Preparation and Characterization of Zn2SnO4 Photocatalysts

Venkatesha et al have synthesized cubic Zn2SnO4 (ZTO) photocatalysts by using an efficient and simple two-step hybrid electrochemical-thermal route without any templates or surfactants at room temperature. The particle size of ZTO obtained was 24-54 nm. The ZTO particles calcined at 600 oC showed the best photocatalytic ability in the degradation of methylene dye, when compared with the as-prepared ZTO precursor, ZTO calcined at 300 oC, as well as the commercial TiO2-P25. The nano ZTO synthesized by this simple, fast and ecofriendly electrochemical method with excellent phtocatalytic ability is a promising candidate for the degradation of dyes from waste water.
