The Assembly of SnO Micro-hydrangeaceae and Their Optical Property

Zhang et al have recently synthesized micro-hydrangeas which are assembled by SnO nanosheets through chemical vapor deposition method. The morphology of SnO microhydrangeas characterized by SEM shows the thicknesses and diameters of  many SnO nanosheets are the range of 30-60 nm and 500-600 nm, respectively. The X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive spectrum, and Raman spectrum indicate that the SnO nanostructures possess the characteristics of the tetragonal structure. A possible growth mechanism based VLS growth for the synthesized product is proposed. The photoluminescence spectrum showed a strong emission peak at 390 nm so that the three-dimensional SnO microhydranges are believed to have promising applications in the optoelectronics micro/nanodevices.
