The Synthesis of Compositionally Graded Ag-Fe Nanoparticles and Their Magnetic Property

Chandan et al. have recently synthesized the Ag-Fe nanoparticles by a sonochemical route method. The average composition for the as-synthesized nanoparticles obtained from the SEM-EDS curve analysis is 97 wt% Ag. The average particle size obtained from the TEM image analysis of about 300 particles is 16±3 nm. It is shown that the amount of Fe gradually decreases towards the center where the particle is composed of almost pure Ag. The initial magnetization curve and the magnetic hysteresis loop obtained from the as-synthesized nanoparticles shows their magnetic features.
