Highly Efficient Adsorption of Copper Ions Based on Physisorption

Zhang et al. prepared PVP-rGO by modified hummer`s method, which was used to remove Cu ions from wastewater. A large adsorption uptake of Cu ions with 1689 mg/g was obtained, which was 10 times higher than other adsorption reported in previous work. In order to understand the mechanism of the high adsorption capacity, the DFT calculations were performed. According to the calculations, the Cu ions were adsorbed to the surface of PVP-rGO by the physisorption.

The metal ions in the drinking water will cause serious potential problems on living organisms. Therefore, it has great meaning to find a high efficient adsorption to clean the drinking water.
