Preparation of InAs Nanowires and Study of its Thermal Conductivity

 

05Ren et al. have recently find that the thermal conductivity (k) of a single InAs nanowire (NW) are diameter-dependentby using a home-made simple laser heating method. The k values in air areslightly lower than those in vacuum, which is particularly important for its applications in thermoelectric device.

The high-quality InAs NWs weresynthesized by a convenient chemical vapor deposition method (CVD) process.SEM, XRD and TEM results indicated that the InAs NWs they obtained are pure single crystalline. The k of InAs NWs monotonically increases from 6.4 to 10.5 W m-1 K-1 with diametersincreasing from 100 to 190 nm, which is ascribed to the enhanced phonon-boundary scattering.
